IOWA DISTRICT WEST'S NEWEST MISSIONARY TO RUSSIA AND EURASIA
What a blessing to have our LCMS World Mission's newest missionary family come to visit Mission Central. Rick, Marla and their son, Jonah Steenbock all came to speak in our barn at Mission Central. Not only did this family come, but they brought their parents as well. Yes, Mr. & Mrs. Virgil Steenbock, members of St. Paul in Council Bluffs, Iowa and Pastor and Mrs. Crockett (former pastor at Glenwood, Iowa) came from St. Louis with their children to help send them off on their calling to be our first "Project Managers" for Russia and Eurasia.....as this family will be working with evangelists, missionaries, and managing over 100 active projects in this part of the world. They will be living outside of Frankfurt, Germany and Rick will be flying all over the former countries of the Soviet Union, sharing the Good News of the Lord Jesus to people who have been in darkness for 70 years under the rule of the communists. Both Rick and Marla grew up in Council Bluffs, and they have family and relatives in Ida Grove, Harlan, Persia and Council Bluffs. What a JOY to welcome this family as our newest Missionaries from Iowa District West...and they now begin their journey to raise 100% of their own support...as they will be career missionaries and will be assigned for a minimum of seven years in this position. Please pray for this family, that God would "raise up" people to pray for them and provide the support that they need in order that they can go and share Jesus with so many....Here you see this family at Mission Central with our "Boss" in the background.
