Fialas from Slovakia Visit Mission Central |
 |
On July 26th, 2006, something very, very special took place at Mission Central. God allowed some of His special missionaries to be present for a very scriptural event. In the book of Acts 13:3 it tells of the early church sending missionaries, and it reads: "So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off." Very few people have the privilege of doing this wonderful event. Yet, on the evening of July 26th, some very special people that God had called to the fellowship hall of Mission Central experienced that very thing.
A wonderful group of a Bible Study members from Good Shepherd in Fort Dodge, Iowa came, and with members from Clarinda, Schleswig, Galva to be a part of this event. Missionaries David and Radtka Fiala and their little boy Vashik from Slovakia were were present, but also present was our brand new Iowa District West Missionary, Laurie Lenz from Algona, Iowa leaving for Slovakia to work with the Fialas in the Lutheran High School there. It was truly a special evening, and David and Radtke told of how God was using them to touch the lives of young people half way around the world with the Good News of our Lord Jesus. At the end of the evening, the group came forward and put their hands on them to send them off, and Missionary Rev. Lee Mentink provided the final "sending prayer" for the missionaries going to Slovokia on our behalf!
The group from Fort Dodge finished the evening with a special tour of the Mission Museum and a tour of the offices and other facilities at Mission Central. It was truly a night we will long remember.
